Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 5 reached 4.5 million players across all platforms as the largest launch ever for an Xbox Game Studios title. Xbox head Phil Spencer shared the news on Tuesday, adding that it’s reaching three times the concurrent players of the prior title, Forza Horizon 4, thanking players and congratulating the development team at Playground Games.
This number is far exceeding Forza Horizon 4, which saw 2 million players in its first week. Acquired in 2018, Playground Games has worked with Turn 10 Studios on the Forza franchise for years, while another team at Playground Games is also working on a reboot of the role-playing Fable franchise.
Forza Horizon 5 is currently available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming. In our review, we wrote that “Forza Horizon 5 is the culmination of all of Playground Games’ efforts to perfect its craft, and the result is the best open-world racing game you can play.
